I have a desktop connected to an iphone via messages

I have a desktop connected to an iphone via messages and I want to disconnect the desktop messages without interfering with the iPhone. How do I do that?

Hello PawlTisdale,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If you no longer want Messages coming to your MacBook, you can sign out of Messages. That will resolve the issue and won't affect the iPhone. Here is how:

  1. Open Messages
  2. Go to Messages in the top menu bar on the left
  3. Go to Settings > iMessage
  4. Sign out

More info on that can be found here: Change iMessage settings in Messages on Mac - Apple Support

In addition, if you have SMS/MMS text message forwarding enabled on your iPhone, you'll want to go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and disable that feature for your Mac. You can read more about that here: Forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad - Apple Support

If you're using Messages in iCloud, you may want to look into disabling that as well using these steps, since it keeps all messages up-to-date on your devices that it is enabled on: Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
