Exporting my apple iphone photos to my hard drive

I cannot export photos into my hard drive. Whenever I do it gives me an error of being an invalid device or device not connected even though I've tried it more than 5 times now. I have tried other methods as well in file explorer but all of them seem to not work. Before I was easily able to transfer my photos to the hard drive when I had an Android but now it is just not working. Can you please help me solve this problem as my storage in running low. Thanks

If the iPhone has an Apple Lightning connection port, you can use a SanDisk iXpand flash drive to use as an external hard drive. They are available in various sizes.

You can also use that iXpand flash drive as a tool to save the photos to a real external hard drive afterwards.

iXpand Flash Drive are available at Apple Store and at Apple Authorized Service Providers.

There are four ways without compromising the resolution of Photos/Videos

Transfer to PC/Mac and Download to Hard Drive
Turn on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud and is available on all devices that use the same Apple ID then transfer them to a Hard drive
Microsoft support says --> Import photos and videos from an iPhone to a PC then download them to an external HDD
Upload to iCloud Drive. Watch the GIF below to know how to upload Photos/Videos from your iPhone to iCloud Drive. Then download from there.
