The SM-DP+ code itself—if you don't have a QR code—is the Subscription Management Data Preparation Service (which is as meaningful to most of us as SM-DP+), which describes to your iPhone or iPad how to find and download the necessary information for your particular carrier plan, and is a a string of a hundred or so characters long, and basically nobody wants to enter that string manually. Use the QR code, if at all possible. If the QR code is not working, contact your carrier for assistance configuring your eSIM to connect into the carrier's network, including the carrier-specific SM-DP+ code.
