Boot camp drivers for 17" Late 2011 MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.13.6
I have a 17" MacBook Pro, Late 2011 which I still use a great deal, although I also have a current model 16" MacBook Pro. The reason is two fold: 1. The built in DVD-ROM drive and 2. the access to Boot Camp for the small but very important Windows Apps I must use (and which are not compatible with the current MBPro Windows ARM installation).
I had a recent hard drive failure in the 2011 MBPro. I was totally backed up so that I simply replaced the drive (and a new battery while I was in there), loaded MacOS High Sierra and got back to work.
But the Boot Camp partition was another story. When I ran the High Sierra boot camp utility it downloaded the drivers to a jump drive as it should. But when I loaded the Windows 8.1 Pro installation DVD I received an error message that the downloaded boot camp drivers were not compatible with Windows 10. This was even though I had loaded the same Windows 8.1 Pro DVD I had used before on this machine. So I am stuck.
How can I find the appropriate drivers for Boot Camp and Windows using a 17" MacBook Pro, late 2011, running High Sierra MacOS 10.13.6. This machine works fine and is compatible with Boot Camp and Windows 8.1 Pro.
I know that continuing to use this now decade old machine is a bit eccentric, particularly since I also have access to and also use a current MBPro. But It works fine and is uniquely suited to run several of the Mac and Windows Apps which I use regularly. I really miss boot camp on the current MacBook Pros.
Thanks for any help provided!
