Apple CarPlay Google Maps screen distortion after ios 16

Hi,

I am a long time iphone user since 3gs, also a CarPlay user since 2019 in my cars. Currently I’m using an iphone 13 mini 512gb and having an issue when I use Google Maps on the head unit in my 2020 VW Caravelle highline van. The head unit is factory installed “discovery pro 9.2” and it has both wired and wireless CarPlay connectivity. The problem has started right after I upgraded my phone’s software to ios 16. Please see attached screenshots below. Everything starts as it should, but after several minutes started driving, suddenly the pixellation starts only on Google Maps screen, then within following 2 minutes the screen completely becomes blurry. Buttons become unresponsive, I completely loose control of the head unit. After like 5-6 minutes of this state the wireless connection drops, then reconnects, and the same thing happens again and again. I’m desperately seeking for a solution to this. I’ve diagnosed my car at dealer for this, unfortunately I was told that I should wait for bug fix update for my phone, the car and the head unit is good I was told.

after the updates, currently the phone is on ios16.1.1, sadly no improvements on Google maps. I’ve tried the Apple Maps, boom, no problems over there. So the error only comes when I use Google Maps.

I’ve tried restarting my phone, wired connection, rebooting head unit, factory reset to my phone and restored as new iphone, factory reset to cars head unit, updated the phones sw, updated car head units sw. as you would imagine it is important for me to be able to use Google Maps, so I’ve tried everything I learned in life with Apple in terms of troubleshooting. Now I am desperately in need of help to get this fixed. Thanks.
