How to power on/off receiver and TV with Siri remote gen 3 using IR

I purchased the latest Apple TV which comes with the gen 3 Siri remote. From what I can tell, the Siri remote should be able to power on and off a receiver and TV via IR since mine do not have HDMI CEC or ARC. However, I cannot figure out how to do this.

Is it still possible to have the basic power on/off functionality on the receiver and TV with the Siri remote?

Hello Jaywatay,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with operating your TV and receiver with your Siri remote. Try the steps lsited here to see if they resolve the issue: Control your TV and volume with the Siri Remote

  1. "Open Settings  on Apple TV.
  2. Go to Remotes and Devices > Volume Control and choose Auto.
  3. Note: These settings may not work with all devices. For more information, see the Apple Support article Control your TV or receiver with your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
