High pitched sound when attempting to record with Apogee Duet 2 USB

When I enable a track for recording there is a high pitched sound which gets much louder with input from vocals and guitar. The vocal and guitar are not audible. This has happened before when I needed to update the driver. I went to the Apogee site and could not find a driver for my Duet 2 USB. I am using a MacBook Pro 2017, OS 12.6 Monterey, GarageBand 10.4.7. I've attached a sample of my recording effort.

Are you using headphones to monitor? It sounds like a feedback path.

Contact Apogee, they have really good Mac support.

Hi Keith,

I get the high pitched sound when using headphones and when the input is the Duet USB. It doesn't happen if the input is the built in microphone. It also happened when I opened a different GarageBand project. I'm sure it's the Duet.

I have submitted a request for advice from them. In the past it takes them a few days to respond. Hopefully, they are still updating drivers to support the Duet 2. I've had to throw away a similar device because of that previously.
