My Apple TV remote only works within a foot of the receiver , what’s the problem ?

This is a lot of people having problems with signal strength with Apple TV. I can control Apple TV mounted on back of TV, and walk 20 feet and still control on 4K TVbox.

What I can say to look at is;

• what has changed since it did work
• what things are in between the remote and Apple TV?
• what other electrical sources are on ? Some 120vac led light bulbs emit a freq which can cause some issues.
• check sending remote for debris in or around top of unit where led is. Also check AppleTV device to.
• try a different remote on that Apple TV, or try suspect remote with another Apple TV

I had the same issue today for the first time. I plugged it in for a half hour, as guided, with no solution. So I hard reset the remote (back+vol down), nothing. Re-paired (menu+vol up), still nothing. Restart the Apple TV itself, and its perfect again. This is clearly an Apple TV issue and not a remote issue. Hopefully it will be resolved in an update (firmware or software).

Try plugging Apple Tv remote in to charge and try again.

I had the same problem. The remote only worked when it was within a few inches of Apple TV. After trying all the suggested fixes without success, I rebooted the Apple TV. That worked.

I have this problem too. My remote is fully charged. Same issue. I have tried to re-pair it and sometimes that lasts for a minute. It's not an energy problem for me.
