Ex-Employee Password

My company has been making every employee an individual Apple ID with the person's company email and a company issued password. We have told the employees not to change this password for if they are terminated, we can get into the phone with or without a passcode. Some of our employees have changed this apple ID password and we no longer can get into these phones in any way possible. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or ways for us to get into these phones that have a passcode and a changed Apple ID password.

If you use a Mobile Device Management program, your company can formally establish its ownership of the iPhones. Otherwise, your employees are left to follow your policies on the honor system, as you have seen.

You should be using Apple Business Manager to manage Apple IDs for employees. Also, you really need to invest in an MDM platform that supports Activation Lock Bypass. Some platforms that support this are Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, and JumpCloud.

Managing with Apple Business Manager keeps all the IDs in one place and gives administrators the ability to reset passwords and change phone numbers for the Apple IDs.

MDM allows for remote configuration and management.

When paired together, you can deploy apps centrally, ensure a centrally managed Activation Lock, and more.
