What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support
If your AirPlay receiving device (Apple TV box, Roku, or select smart TV) has a password requirement (instead of pairing code), then you can find that on the settings of this AirPlay receiving device. If the password is obfuscated (••••••) then you can change it to something new. You can also disable the password requirement there, if you want. Disable-enable will auto generate a 6-digit number as password (on the Apple TV box anyway), or you may manually change it, and enter something else which may include letters.

Hi there Papito001,
Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.
We're happy to help.
You can use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPad. See here: Use AirPlay to stream video of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
When you do this, if an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen or Mac, enter the passcode on your iPadOS device.
Let us know if you have any questions.
