iPhone Voice to Text punctuation not working - iOS 17 Update

Has anybody else noticed that the punctuation when using voice to text is suddenly really terrible? I’m fully disabled with hand disabilities that make corrections not just difficult, but exceedingly painful, and suddenly voice to text is adding periods, where I don’t want periods, commas, where I don’t want commas, doesn’t capitalize the first letter on sentences, and is generally so much worse than it was before I updated.

The update I currently have is 16.1.2. I need it to stop. 16.1.2 broke my home screen, my ability to stream on almost all of my streaming services through HDMI, and my ability to speak and have my iPhone translated into a legible sentence. the home screen is just annoying, but the other two are something that severely impacts the disabled community, and I am so disappointed in Apple.

dear Apple, please understand that this is not just an annoying bug, it is a bug that causes me severe pain from having to fix the problem, and strips me of my ability to communicate clearly if I don’t fix the problem. I was so grateful for voice to text before, but not now. please do something.

Voice dictation is completely broken now. Commas and sentence breaks appear for no particular reason. Apple voice dictation has always been problematic, but now it is virtually unusable. Please, fix it.

I've been having the same problem. I cannot stand when others try to put punctuation in for me that I did not before. I'm super happy we got a solution to this because Apple was getting it all wrong. If you go into settings, general, keyboard, dictation, switch enable dictation, and switch off auto punctuation. It worked for me!

I never even thought about being disabled with these issues. I’m so sorry for you. I’m not disabled, and it drives me Battie!!! My issues are more along the lines of when I’m trying to correct some thing that I had voice text. When I try to put my cursor somewhere it highlights a whole **** paragraph. And it won’t move to just the word I need to fix unless I hold my space bar down and move it which would be fine, but it doesn’t work out the time it ends up just capitalizing a bunch of CCCC’s and just throwing them in there randomly! And now I have to try to get those out the same way and it’s just impossible and I guess it’s all been since the update before this past one which I haven’t done I have not done the latest. Anybody else having these problems?

I just went to my state's accessibility services to try to get help.

Essentially-- Siri's dictation, which worked well in the past, no longer works. I have the same troubles as everyone else-- It capitalizes randomly, sprinkles commas where they don't belong, duplicates text, and though it will type words correctly initially-- it sometimes changes them after a second to be the wrong words. (Even when the wrong word makes no grammatical sense.)

Here are the free solutions I was given. (Essentially, give up on Apple and shift to other software solutions.)

Microsoft's dictation worked much better. Though of course, that's in their software. (Go to the Edit menu and turn on dictation.) The laptop version works GREAT. The iPhone/iPad version work, but a little less well.

Google Chrome's browser has an extension called, "Voice in," that allows users to have 60 minutes of free dictation each day. (And one can buy more.) Unfortunately, this is only available on the desktop version, not the Chrome browser for iPad and iPhone.

And here it is June 2024, and the problem is not fixed. If anything it is worse. I don't understand how Apple could not address this issue. Voice to text used to work, and now it does not work. How does this happen? Apple please, please fix this. It's very difficult for those of us who need to use voice to text. Sometimes I wonder if it's not intentional because it is just so bad. Could you please provide an update on when this will be repaired?
