Can I print names only from contact list?

Yes.
Command-P to Print, choose Styles: List, and uncheck any other elements (phone, e-mail, etc) that you don't want.

I agree that this would be helpful in Contacts. You probably should request this using the feedback page.
As it is now, you probably need to get the list of names into a Numbers document, and use Pages "Mail Merge" facility to produce the envelopes. Much less convenient!
Does this work with printing envelopes as well?
Thank you So much for replying! It is most unfortunate that this option is not offered. I needed to print envelopes with names only. The only way I have found is by going to pages. Is there no other way?
Apple programers need to add this option to printing from contacts.

I don't see how to customize it when printing envelopes, there are no checkboxes in that case.
