Read receipts not showing

Turning on Read Receipts doesn't let you know when other people have read your messages. It only lets other people know when you've read theirs to you.

You won't see a "read" notification on your phone. It will only show on the iPhones of people you've sent iMessages to.

I had same issue 14 pro max when I sent a message it showed delivered but no read receipts.girlfriends phone didn’t show read till I found this . When you get a message go up to the top person pic and name click on it and you will see send read receipt toggle is probably off

Have to trained toggling Read Receipts off, restarting your iPhone, then toggling them back on? The is a simple step that could refresh that setting in Messages.

If that doesn't help, please provide us with the answers to the following questions:

• Does this issue happen when reading Messages on any other device? For example, on a Mac, iPad or Apple Watch?

• Do you use Messages in iCloud?If you're unsure, here's how to check: Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support

• Does this issue happen when connected to multiple networks? For example, when your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi vs. cellular data.

If this continues to occur after toggling 'Send Read Receipts' off then back on under Settings > Messages, can you provide the answers to the questions we previously asked? That will allow us to isolate this behavior further.

Also, so that we can gather some more information, have you checked with all the contacts you are sending messages to to see if they are seeing when you've read their message? If you want to see when your messages are read, ensure these contacts have 'Send Read Receipts' enabled on their end as well.
