IPad Locked Out

My uncle passed away and I received his IPad. I did not know his passcode and sent the IPad into security lockout. I factory reset the IPad and I thought it worked until I got to the screen that said my uncle’s apple ID was still logged in to the IPad. I dont know what to do. I tried getting the password but the security question about his birthday is wrong (he put in random birthday i think). What should I do so I can use the IPad?

Hello Madison,

For information about how to request access to a deceased family member's Apple accounts, and through this their equipment, click here --> How to request access to a deceased family member's Apple account - Apple Support

You, or the person who gets access, can then do this --> How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support

You are encountering the Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support feature or its related service iCloud - Find My - Apple . Activation Lock is designed to prevent anyone else from using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if it's ever lost or stolen. Deactivating either of these requires knowing the Apple ID and password that set them, or placing a special request to Apple at https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support to reset the device. I suspect the documentation required for the reset service would be similar to that for getting access to the account.
