why does my phones location services say I’m in a totally different state when I’m attempting to search up stuff on google or other apps to get something closest to me at the time ??
If you open Maps does it show your actual location? If Maps is correct it means that Google is using the location of your IP address. There are several possible reasons the IP address location can be wrong:
- Most Likely: You are using a VPN connection
- Next most likely: You are using iCloud+ Private Relay and you did not choose Settings/Your Name/iCloud/iCloud Private Relay/IP Address Location: Maintain General Location
- If you connected to cellular data rather than Wi-Fi it is reporting the location of your carrier’s connection to the Internet; also possible for ISP for your Wi-Fi
- Least likely, but possible: Your Wi-Fi router was previously used in the location in a different state, and its location was mapped by Apple’s map provider
