Apple TV on Spectrum freezes up

I have followed the Modem reboot-router reboot-apple tv reboot 100 times in the last few months. All devices have been updated. I have 400Mbps internet, a NETGEAR r8000 router and updated Apple TV. It freezes while watching Spectrum channels…. I can’t recall the last time Netflix, Disney, Hulu, or Apple TV (app) froze up…. If ever. Usually, I can clear all the running apps or just the spectrum app and the problem is resolved, but often only for 15 minutes or so. I’ve been through the blame game- it’s always someone else’s fault! My question is: does anyone really know what’s happening here?

Yes, closing apps will free up memory. If the Spectrum App is using so much memory that it requires other apps be closed, then again, that's an issue with the App. It should not be consuming so much memory like that and causing itself to freeze. There's definitely an issue with that app, and not the Apple TV itself.

The other option is to uninstall the Spectrum app and install it again, or see if there's an available update for it in the App Store.

If other apps work fine on the Apple TV and don't freeze I would tend to assume its an issue with the Spectrum app or their stream.

No reason to think there's something fundamentally wrong with the Apple TV if only one app is having issues.

Thanks for the response…but, doesn’t the closing of apps on the AppleTV free up memory….as if it was creating a bottleneck? Then, once free, the problem doesn’t occur as frequently. However, it doesn’t always work….

I am baffled by this!
