AirPods Pro - location is buggy and unreliable

i have AirPods Pro 2, and I am having nonstop issues with the location functions in the Find My App.

• alerts that my AirPods were detected tracking me
• sometimes not listed in Find My at all
• message that’s “setup is not complete” for location
• list my AirPods as being outside the case when they are not
• “Play sound” often doesnt work or says pending

ive disconnected and reconnected them a number of times- but hasn’t seemed to fix anything

also updated to ios 16.2 which hasn’t worked either
