System Preferences Apple ID not available

Question

System Preferences Apple ID not available

Since the last update (13.1, 22C65) it is basically no longer possible to edit (or even see) the Apple ID settings in the System Preferences. Besides a seemingly endless wait until the first screen appears (the one with the devices at the bottom), every other field leads to the spinning wheel and eventually (and this can take a very long time) to the abort with a message like "Settings currently unavailable".

I can't find a corresponding discussion post - but it's very unlikely that only I have the problem, right? What could be done?

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading. It will only load the Minimum amount of Core Apple Processes to allow the the computer to function at a reduced Level of Performance

3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

4 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Hi, try turn off Private Relay.

same here. I created a new account on mij iMac (M1) and the issue occurred when I put mij private switch in secure mode. it keeps on saying <loading> and the whole window gets sluggish or non responsive

Hi, I succeded in turning private relay OFF after very long waiting. The problem was my ExpressVPN software witch interfered with te private relay switch. Maybe you can delete the VPD software and then try to put the switch OFF

I have the same problem but can't turn off Private Relay.

Thanks a lot. Tried this but too bad, it didn't change a thing. The only thing that helped was switching PrivateRelay to OFF, though this was only possible after many many tries …

Thank you and everybody else who sent an answer.

It took many many attempts to turn the switch from Private Realy to OFF, but when it worked, everything else was accessible as usual.

Same here, except that ExpressVPN doesn't seem to be responsible. Is installed, but no difference if active or not.
