Flickering issues with my iPhone 14 Pro Max

Guys I’d like to know if you are facing these same issues in your iPhone

- The camera flickers a lot while shooting videos in 4K 60 FPS. I mean what’s the use of 4K if it flickers and destroys the smoothness.

- The camera switches lenses too abruptly while shooting, zooming, etc. On my previous non Apple device, I never faced such issues.

- The macro functionality is taking a hit. It’s taking quite a lot of time to focus between objects.

- When using WhatsApp, Instagram, etc third party apps, the camera in it is just too bad. Macro doesn’t work at all. I always have to keep my mobile away and then zoom at whatever I want to capture.

I bought this flagship device knowing that it’s one of the best in the market. But what’s the use if I face such basic issues.

If you all know any remedy for this, please tell me. These problems persists even after updating my device to iOS 16.2

Thanking you all in advance.

Hello Vedant_ma,

Let's start off by checking the helpful steps in this article which can help with this issue: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working. Please follow any steps not already taken:

"Remove case, accessory, or film and test

  1. Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or flash or that places a magnet near the camera.
  2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
  3. Test the LED flash:

If the flash works only sometimes, open the Camera app and tap the flash button to choose a different setting.

If you want to try more steps on your own

If you prefer, here are some more steps you can try on your own if the camera isn't working. You might still need to contact Apple Support after following these steps.

  1. If the photo is blurry, clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens or if the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.
  2. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch
  3. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both isn’t working. To switch cameras, tap the rotate button ."

If the issue persists, further assistance may be needed. We want to make sure you reach the right team for help with your iPhone camera, so we recommend that you contact Apple Support directly. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Have been using my phone for close to 2 months and only now saw it. When it was flickering in video mode it was showing message “too little light” or something like that. Continued to do the same even when i pointed it directly at a switched on bulb! A restart of phone seemed to resolve it at the time. Looks like some fault. If it has happened once surely it won’t go away and will happen again. Really worried.

Every iPhone I’ve had only flickered with slow mo, I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 14 plus and no matter what mode I go into whether it be slow mo, video, action mode, or just taking a normal photo it flickers like crazy, this doesn’t happen in 3rd party apps so it has to be a software issue, you’d think Apple would push an update out like they did with the pros to stop the camera from shaking/vibrating, you’d think they’d be more on top of their latest phones issues.👀😬 Honestly the 14 line up has had quite a bit of issues, I low key wish I kept my iPhone 13 Pro Max, it got super hot but other than that it was a great phone and it took the BEST photos/videos out of every phone I’ve had android or Apple.

I have this problem when I use photography lights - which I do on a daily basis for my business. When the lights are on the camera flickers so I can't use it. However when I turn the lights off and have standard lighting on (which is way too dim for product photography) it doesn't flicker. My colleague's £69 Qbot phone thankfully doesn't flicker but this is a real issue and shouldn't be happening.
