Connecting Harmon Kardon Sound sticks

Is it still possible to connect the Harmon Kardon sound stick to the airport express? It blinks amber, and I have tried to delete info and start from scratch. It seems I can not even find it now on what is left of the airport utility, I know that Apple is not doing airport utility anymore. The one we had to do our home internet broke and had to get a non apple version.

IS there another object to connect sound sticks 3 to get it to play?

Thanks

Since all my networks are using Apple equipment I'm hesitant to say anything at all, but that statement is not true.

Follow Tesserax's instructions but I believe you will need to "hard reset" the Express according to How to reset your AirPort base station - Apple Support. You will then use AirPort Utility configure the Express to join the network in client mode. To do that you will need your Mac to join the temporary wireless network it creates for the sole purpose of configuring it. When it finishes and the Express restarts, that temporary network will cease to exist.

It may be necessary to connect the Express to your Netgear router with an Ethernet cable. Again, I'm hesitant to say that only because all my network routers, access points etc are Apple, and am not in position to confirm an Express can join another wireless network in client mode. It can almost certainly be added to a wired network though, and should appear as an available device for AirPlay streaming.

On that subject, have you given consideration to having the Express serve as your primary router? It can do many things including that, but of course you will want it to be physically near your HK sound sticks. You will need a long audio cable (or optical cable — the Express's audio output is a combination analog / optical output port) or an equally long Ethernet cable going to the ISP's gateway (modem) if you want the Express near the sound sticks.

If something goes wrong during configuration and the Express's LED does not go from flashing amber to its normal happy green, you need to start at the beginning: "hard reset", join its temporary network (named "Apple Network <...>"), configure with AirPort Utility... etc.

In theory (I don't have them to verify), you should be able to use a 3.5mm audio cable between the Express and these Sound Sticks to play audio.

The Sound Sticks should have an audio port to which you can connect any other sound source for playback.

The other issue is, whether or not, your AirPort Express is still functional, which I could not gleam from your post. Which exact model do you have? How is it connected to your existing network?

If your goal is to stream music (via AirPlay) to the Express, your computer would need to connect to the wireless network provided by the Express. Alternately, you would connect the Express to your Netgear's wireless network as a wireless client. You would then stream to the Netgear's network, and that stream would then travel to the Express ... and from there, via an audio cable to your speakers.

Ok, that helped with what model it is, but the amber blinking light would indicate that it is not configured properly ... so that's why I need an answer to my other question. How do you have this base station configured to work your your network?

That is, is it the only base station in the network? If so, what is the make & model of the Internet modem or gateway that it is connected to? What are you using to stream the audio source from? A Mac, PC, something else?

Yes, I am intelligent enough to know to plug it in. The airport blinks amber, and my main problem is getting the computer to recoginize it, which it can not, unless there is a work around that I do not know about. The base station that the airport was connected to broke. I still can not get the airport express to be ackloaged in my speakers
