Hello Iphonesetup8to13,
It seems like you may be being asked for the password for an encrypted backup, is that correct?
Please check out the information in the following link, which outlines how to transfer information from your previous device to your new iPhone, which may help: Use the Finder or iTunes to transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
How to transfer your backup to your new device
1. Turn on your new device. A "Hello" screen should appear. If you already set up your new device, you need to erase it before you can use these steps.*
2. Follow the steps until you see the Apps & Data screen, then tap Restore from Mac or PC.
3. Connect your new device to the computer that you used to back up your previous device.
4. Open iTunes or a Finder window on your computer and select your device. You might be asked to trust your device.
5. Select Restore Backup. Then choose a backup. Make sure it's the correct one by looking at the date and size of each. Learn what to do if asked to update to a newer version of iOS or iPadOS.
6. If you need to restore from an encrypted backup, enter your password when asked.
7. Wait for the restore process to finish, then complete the rest of the setup steps on your iOS or iPadOS device. If possible, keep your device connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into power after setup. This allows content like your photos, music, and apps stored in iCloud to automatically download back to your device.
If you don't know the password for the encrypted backup, please check out this link, which will guide you through what to do: If you can’t remember the password for your encrypted backup
If you can’t remember the password for your encrypted backup
1. On your device, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device], then tap Reset.
2. Tap Reset All Settings and enter your device passcode.
3. Tap Reset All Settings.
4. Follow the steps to reset your settings. This won't affect your user data or passwords, but it will reset settings like display brightness, Home Screen layout, and wallpaper. It also removes your encrypted backup password.
5. Connect your device to the Finder or iTunes again and create a new encrypted backup.
You won't be able to use previous encrypted backups, but you can use the Finder or iTunes to back up your current data and set a new backup password.
If you have a device with iOS 10 or earlier, you can't reset the password. In this case, try the following:
• If someone else set up your device, ask them for the password.
• Use an iCloud backup instead. If you don't have an iCloud backup, you can make one.
• Use an older iTunes or Finder backup.
Thanks!
