Can you select Iphone as webcam while conferencing via Safari?

I was excited to learn you can chose your Iphone as your webcam, instead of the macbook camera. But am I right in thinking that you CAN NOT, when streaming via Safari?

By that I mean : video conferencing via Google Meets, for example. I say that because Apple documentation only mentions this option being available within Apps.

The thing is, most of my meetings involve clicking on a link which opens the browser, and not any app.

(Latest OS, IOS, macbook pro, Iphone 14 - all switched on and connected to the same WiFi)
