An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.

In Apple Mail program. Warning sign posts on my email accounts, and may resolve with try again tapped. Started after upgrade to Ventura 13.1. Instructions at Apple help on what to do to solve this are obsolete and do not identify components of my settings options for my email accounts. The suggestions from 2020 are not apparently relevant to the new iOS. Help help.

Here is how to: Troubleshoot email problems in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If SSL is providing issues, you will want to confirm the usage of TCP port 993 (POP3 SSL) or TCP port 995 (IMAP SSL), and ESMTP for submissions via TCP port 465 or TCP port 587.

Some mail providers might accept SSL on TCP port 143—that's the unencrypted IMAP port—but I wouldn't bet on that port working, or not otherwise being blocked by a firewall somewhere.

Setting Mail to automatic usually works, and avoids having to look for the ports for the particular provider.

Kappy: Check your email app's configuration. You should have the correct addresses for the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Select SSL security in their configurations. You need two port settings: incoming is usually 143 for SSL; and outgoing is usually 587 for SSL. However, these may change depending upon your email provider.

If you are not seeing the location for the port settings, uncheck the Automatically manage connection settings.

Those ports are likely not correct. Check with your email provider for correct settings.
