Locked out of MacPro
Why does my MacBook Pro only accept a 24 character file recovery key. The one I got is 28. Now I’m locked out. What do I do? Model A2141

I've seen some other users ask about this issue on these forums, but I don't recall whether any of them told us how they resolved their issue with entering the recovery key. FYI, Here is an Apple article referencing the recovery key process:
