You will need to look for your Pencil using the old fashioned method.

Your two eyes and your memory.

Apple Pencils do not have any internal digital means/hardware to track their kocation.

If you walk around with a paired device, you can potentially detect the Bluetooth signal when within Bluetooth range, assuming the Pencil battery has not been depleted.

Probably easier than trying to use the power check for this quest is using a Bluetooth Finder or scanner app and various of those are available in the app store.

These apps will usually show received Bluetooth signal strength while within range, which makes localizing device position somewhat easier.

Again, this requires a Pencil with some power left, paired, and within Bluetooth (~10 meters, max) range.

There are no technical methods by which to locate a lost or mislaid Apple Pencil.

A stationary Apple Pencil will shut-off its Bluetooth radio to save power after a few moments of inactivity. The BT-radio is only active after the Pencil accelerometer detects movement.

The power check reportedly triggers power-up.
