iPhone 14+ and GPS data using Fitbit

My new iPhone 14+ will not track my walks and give a useful map. The Fitbit does record the right number of steps, but the map is way off. For example it shows my distance to be about 5 miles, when in reality it's only about 2. The pace is incorrect as well in the it will display a pace of 8' 14" for a mile. That's Impossible unless I was running. The same issue exists with my wife's brand new 14+ as well. A tech at the Apple Store here suggested I delete and replace the Fitbit app, but that was no fix. It knows my location fine, it just doesn't track correctly. My old 8+ was great at tracking. Any ideas?

Hi jbparker94,

Can you tell us which version of iOS you’re running?

Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

If you find that you’re running a dated version of iOS, please use the link below to update your device.

Update your iPhone or iPad

The reason we ask you to update is because updating your device is an important troubleshooting step that can potentially resolve your issue.

If the original problem persists after trying the previous steps, please provide us with specifics on what you see for more help, and we will continue from there.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Hi jbparker94,

The following article has some steps that you can try if you haven't already gone over all of the steps listed as they relate to issues with the app itself: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

Since this is occurring with a third-party app and product, if the issue persists after going over all of those steps, the next step would be to continue working with the manufacturer.

If needed, this link will get you connected with Fitbit Help.

Cheers.

The phone is running iOS 16.2. I contacted Fitbit to get their take on the problem, and their suggestion was to reset the Inspire 2 device, and update the iOS. Did that and it didn't fix the issue. I will also add that when I use the tracker for walking, I'm walking in an enclosed mall. The weather has not been conducive for walking outside. Hope this helps.
