Deleting Partitions Having Issues And How To Fix/Avoid

Recently, I decided to dual boot Linux and Mac OS for the fun of it. The problem was that when I deleted the Linux partiton, Macintosh HD stopped showing up on the startup disk! Because I needed to get my computer running, I reinstalled Linux again. During that time, Linux recognised the original Mac OS partition meaning it the data was there and I could even mount it from Linux (however you could only read data) but I couldn't get it back on the start up disk. I tried all the methods I could, however none worked. I decided to reinstall Mac OS again and deleted Linux (I have no idea how I managed to since I remember having problems). My question is, How can I safely delete a partiton without this issue and/or How can I solve it? I enjoyed dualbooting and am I thinking of returning to it.

I think there may have been other forum posts talking about this issue on other Linux websites but I dont remember them.

Help is greatly appreciated ^^!
