Default system settings for "Appearance" and "Display"

I have vision issues (macular degeneration) and I tried adjusting my settings to improve my ability to read text on the screen (many websites...including Apple...use a light grey for text color and this is very difficult to read against a white background). Now I find it almost impossible to read. And, when I change text size from default to large, most websites don't scale so a button (like "next") is off the screen and can't be reached without going back and changing text size back to default. But my colors is what I want to get back to default so that I can start over. The "Appearance" and "Display" seem to be the areas I need to get back to the default settings.

FWIW, the Color LCD profile and the resolution in Displays are the defaults. As far as the Appearance settings, it's been too long for me to remember since I used the defaults. I don't know how the default settings under Appearence would help anyway. You should just set whatever works best for you.

Just to clarify here. Where are you changing text size? The screenshot you highlighted is showing display scaling. That is not really an accessibility option. That just changes the display scaling. It simulates a smaller-size display with high resolution.

If you want to change the text size on websites, use Safari's built-in text size adjustments. In Safari, go to the "View" menu, hold down the option key, and choose "Make Text Bigger".

This is probably not going to work on every site. It requires that a site was designed with accessibility in mind. Most web sites from large organizations like banks, schools, governments, etc. should support this.
