Hi Sjblaz832,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with an error message on your PC. We'd like to help.

From what you've described, it's possible that the message you're seeing is related to your printer/scanner that is connected to your PC. Have you tried to remove your printer to see if you still get the same error message when connecting your iPhone? You may need to remove it or uninstall the printer completely to confirm this.

Then, verify your iPhone is up to date by checking these steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click General
  3. Click Software Update

If it's not up to date, it will be helpful to update at that point:

Update iPhone manually
At any time, you can check for and install software updates.
Go to Settings  > General > Software Update.
The screen shows the currently installed version of iOS and whether an update is available.
To turn off automatic updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates.

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let us know how that goes after removing the printer/scanner from the PC and we'll continue to help from there.

Take care!
