Mac Mini - CD Stuck and refuses to eject

I have a Mac Mini (2008) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. When I was trying to check the contents of a few DVDs, ran into trouble. One particular DVD showed up on Finder, but could not display its contents, and then won't eject.

Tried rebooting at least 10-12 times, with the C key down, with the mouse button down, with the Command Option+OF combination pressed - I am neither able to eject the disc nor able to get into the fabled open firmware mode.

Even tried the DiskEject utility, Disk Utility, drutil commands in terminal - all these just run forever and stop responding.

Can someone help me to (a) get the disc out and (b) guide me on exactly at what moment during the startup should I press the key combinations to get into open firmware mode?

Just another option to try. Press and hold the Option key during Startup. This should bring up the Startup Manager that will look for startup volumes to offer you. Usually if the disc in the drive does not have a startup volume it will spit the disc out.

From Apple
For the best experience with startup keys, press the keys immediately after you hear the startup tone.

drutil commands in terminal

excerpt from Kappy's user tip on the matter:

Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject.

If this fails then try this:
*Boot the computer into single-user mode*. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
