Airport A1470 Time Capsule

I pay for internet that is 500 Mbps. Will my 10 year old Airport be able to handle that? I this is an obvious question I apologize my lack of tech savviness.

Actual Internet speeds will depend in part on whether the Time Capsule is set up as the main router on the network.....or.....whether you have another router or modem/router, which would mean that the Time Capsule will be set up in Bridge Mode.

When the Time Capsule is set up as a router, you could expect about 350-375 Mbps Internet speeds. If the Time Capsule is set up as a Bridge, 700-800 Mbps would be possible.

The 1,053 Mbps figure that you see in the example above is a measurement of the possible connection speed between the Time Capsule and the router. This would have nothing to do with the actual Internet speeds that might be available.

To see what the Time Capsule can actually do, you will need to get the Time Capsule set up on the network and then run an Internet speed test......something like www.speedtest.net.

As you might imagine, Wi-Fi speeds can vary wildly depending on how close the Time Capsule is to the router and also how many obstructions might be present in the signal path between the router and Time Capsule.

Let us know how things look when you get the Time Capsule set up and running.

Edit / Correction. This should read as......

As you might imagine, Wi-Fi speeds can vary wildly depending on how close the Time Capsule is to the device using Wi-Fi and also how many obstructions might be present in the signal path between the Time Capsule and the Wi-Fi device.
