Totally fed up up my HomePod mini playing terrible music I never asked for every time i touch the top of it even by accident.
Are we stuck with this 'feature'?
Good hardware but unless it can be sorted they are going up for sale for a song <groan>

Start it playing something you like to listen to then pause it. Next time you accidentally hit the top you should get better results. Or you could experiment with Touch Accommodations in the HomePod's settings page so that accidental brushes are no longer interpreted as play/pause.
