app store download permission

Hi all, I’m new to the forum, and hoping that someone can help me with the following? I’ve bought my 4year old an iPad for Christmas, and have set up the settings so that I have to give permission for her to download apps etc. However I am now trying to download the school apps and educational apps ready for Christmas Day, and every app that I try to download brings up a box saying permission will be requested from parent (ie me), I click “ask” yet nothing happens. I don’t received an email or notification of any kind from apple to my email address to authorise the downloads. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
