IPhone 14 pro data connection issue

I recently bought an iPhone 14 pro. Randomly I lose the cellular data connection but it still displays as 4g connected. I can only access the internet after restarting my phone. I tried turning data/airplane mode on and off as well but didn’t work. This has happened to me 3 times in the course of 4 days since buying the phone.

My wife and I upgraded our iPhones to the 14 Pro and Pro Max models last November (T-Mobile), while at the same time our son upgraded his to a Google Pixel. We (iPhones) very soon started noticing connectivity issues (not our son) (message sending failures, dropped calls, inability to connect to the internet). We had always thought the problem was T-Mobile’s network but I’m now suspecting the iPhones as other family members with T-Mobile and Android phones (even right next to us) have no issues. Researching the internet is only reinforcing my observations. We have been contacting tech support (T-Mobile) and even visited Apple but no one seems to know (they say) any solution. I am now (and my wife especially) super frustrated. These phones are very expensive but apparently quality control is not up to expected levels. I am traveling out of state and we’re still having the same issues although, again, others using same network but not iPhones, are experiencing no issues at all! I need help!! I’m going to stop by T-Mobile AGAIN, to talk to someone and explain everything again for the 150th time. Unbelievably frustrating.

I am wondering if my problem is related to the fact that I have a VPN installed on my phone. I think my problems started happening after I got the VPN. It doesn’t matter that it is turned off. For the past couple weeks I have had no issues but then I went on a business trip where I had to use my VPN. When I got back home, I turned the VPN off, but I noticed that my connectivity issues started happening again. I was supposed to go pick up a new Sim card from my carrier but I have not had time to do so. I’ll let you guys know if a new Sim card will make a difference… Not that this will help anyone in the states since I believe you guys all have esims.

Hey!

I have the iPhone 14 Pro for 2 weeks now and am also having problems with connectivity (I am from Germany) Mostly while having bluetooth, mobile data and wifi automatically put on. When changing from a wifi environment to a non wifi environment it takes up to 5-6 minutes to connect to my mobile data. It's SO stupid and annoying. I came from android / an old and very cheap xiaomi (200 € 3,5 years ago) and never experienced such problem.

I am using the same physical sim.

Whenever I am in a wifi enviroment and take wifi off manually it connects INSTANTLY to my mobile data. No problem there - so I assume it has something to do with the automatic connection between those "networks".. when i leave my car with bluetooth connected, it often also disconnects from internet (mobile data , in this case).

So stupid. 1100€ and basic settings are not working. what a disappointment.

@Mhmcv-70: So, same problem here but no VPN installed. Most likely thats not the problem.

Did anyone receive help already?

Thanks for your info . Weird then how my problem only started happening after I got the vpn installed. I had my 14pro since dec with no issues till then. Hmmm … everything you said is exactly the same for me. Here’s what else I’ve observed : when I connect my phone to my car and car play kicks in, connectivity doesn’t drop but if I go from wifi to somewhere where data has to kick in automatically 9/10 times I lose connectivity . Maybe the 1/10 time I don’t lose it is when I don’t touch my phone for more than 5-10 mins after leaving wifi? I’ll have to test that out . Until recently I have had to resolve the issue by restarting my phone —which is a real b*tch—but now I put it on and off airplane mode . That resolves it too .

Has anyone who has apple care fought for a new phone ? Just wondering since this prob doesn’t affect all 14s.

I have tried everything even send it to Apple repair shop 3 times and nothing with 2 bars signal on 4 G network not even loading a photo on twitter noting I did screen recording and send it to Apple representative repair shop in Iceland they didn’t even look at the recordings and they say all the posts here are fake and made from fake accounts .

I will make a video and I will post it

Hey man!

Yes, we are all fake bots coming from android trying to win the andround vs. iOS war.

Lol, what a joke honestly.. with AI coming around the corner "fake accounts, fake texts" will be a very welcoming excuse for big companies huh

Really disappointed from Apple and customer service from your experience.

I have to do some more testing today/tomorrow after I changed one or two settings and if it's still happening, I am also forced to visit an apple store. I'll share experience then with you guys

Hmm okay, maybe it can also **** something up. But as you can see, I have the same problems without having VPN installed.

A friend of mine is using same phone (14 pro) and having no connectivity issues. So I assume not all 14s are affected.

Are you using 5G or LTE? Because my mobile data contract only allows LTE.

Offtopic but another thing:

When listening to a WhatsApp voice note, putting the mobile phone away so it goes into the locked screen and displays goes off / or wents darker, the voice note cracks from time to time.. And this problem my friend has indeed. It's not super worrying since this situation doesnt appear as often.

Maybe you know a solution by any chance?

Ive read online some stories with the same prob appearing with iPhone 12 and such.. seems like it has not been worked on totally..

Unfortunately I dont have apple care, but could buy it within the next 40-50 days since my phone is pretty new. Maybe will do so if I dont get enough help otherwise.

So I noticed this same issue after I got my iPhone 14 as well. At first I thought it was my service provider that I had been using for years without issue, I changed to another. I am now on my 4th carrier and I am still having issue, I really want to get to the bottom of this. I am getting really tired of things not loading when I have 5G on my phone with all bars all while my husband can get access with his iPhone SE. I kept reading that the updates would fix this, but nothing has changed. I got this in October, so I am getting really frustrated.
