Hi ann-marie213,

If you are receiving calls or notifications from contacts when you have Focus turned on, check your allowed or silenced notifications from people and apps with the following steps:

    1. Open Settings > Focus
    2. Tap on the Focus you are using.
    3. Tap on People (even if it says "None allowed")
    4. Verify:
      • No one is added to "Allow Notifications From"
      • Allow Calls From is selected to "Allowed People Only" as if there is no one added to it from the first bullet, it won't allow any calls. If you have Favorites selected, a contact that is a favorite can get through.
      • Check if Allow Repeated calls is turned on. As this feature allows a second call to not be silenced.

5. Select "Back" and now check App (even if it says "None Allowed")

      • Ensure no apps are added for "Allow Notifications From"
      • See if "Time Sensitive Notifications" are turned on.

See Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad for more details.

Next, check for emergency contacts:

"You can also allow certain contacts to reach you in the event of an emergency, even when you have a Focus set up.

    1. Open Contacts and select a contact.
    2. Tap Edit, tap Ringtone or Text Tone, then turn on Emergency Bypass.
    3. Tap Done."

Take care
