Cellular stopped working

My iPhone 13 mini suddenly has no cellular service. I can’t make receive calls or texts. I tried everything Apple recommends but when I checked cellular it prompted me to “set up cellular.” When I try to set it up it says “SIM not supported.”

I also tried to update to IOS 16.2. It downloaded but won’t install. It says I’m not connected to the internet. But I am connected on a network.

can anyone help?

Try this:

Remove and reinsert the SIM card.

If it doesn't help contact your carrier, maybe the SIM card is damaged, ask for a replaced (new) card. Normally it is free.

Also  ask to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.

Went to Verizon store and the guy tried everything. New SIM card too. Still nothing. He says it’s an issue with the phone and I should exchange it because it’s still under warranty or whatever.

Very disappointing. I don’t even like the phone. I wish I could just go back to my 6S. I tried to put the SIM card in that phone but I can’t get it to work.

Did you change carriers?

Did you buy the phone new or used?

If new, where exactly did you buy it? Apple, or some other dealer?

The phone is locked to a carrier, and it is not the carrier that issued the SIM you installed. About the only way this can happen is if you bought a used or gray market phone that had been previously hacked to bypass carrier lock. When you updated that hack was removed, and now the phone will only accept a SIM from the original carrier the phone was locked to.
