The screen of my series 8 watch is not dimming at night. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hey there Annette55,

We're having an issue understanding what the actual issue is seeing as it's expected that your watch would become brighter in a darker environment. To better understand what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes, please provide us the following details:

  1. What exactly leads you to believe this is unexpected behavior for the screen? The more details you provide, the better we'll understand the issue.
  2. Has your watch acted in a different manner in nighttime environments than in the past, and if yes, when did this first start?
  3. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone and How to restart your Apple Watch
  4. If you have a compatible iPhone model paired with your watch, the latest version is iOS 16.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  5. If you have a compatible watch model, the latest version is watchOS 9.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to Update your Apple Watch.

Cheers!
