Swipe down menu is blank when iPhone 8+ is in landscape orientation after updating to iOS 16

I have an iPhone 8+ that was working great until I updated to iOS 16 a few days ago. Now when I change the orientation to landscape, my home screen's wallpaper turns all black and when I open the swipe down menu, it's blank except for the time and date and cannot be swept left or right. When my phone is in portrait orientation the menu has full functionality.

It's not a big issue, it's just annoying because it seems like it's not supposed to be happening. I've already tried restarting my phone several times with no effect. Any help would be appreciated.
