reminders app locks up storage even after deletion

Reminders on my iphone uses more than a gigabyte of data. That’s a joke for such limited functionality app. Deleting it - altogether, with data - leaves the app uninstalled, but the storage still consumed. Clearly a bug. This survived across multiple ios updates. I would love to fix this without the ‘wipe the phone and reinstall everything’ option.

It's not a bug; it's all the data (documents, pictures, etc) that were added to your reminders. Apple keeps these in a cache in case you decide to reinstall the app so all of your data will still be there. It also stores this data in iCloud if you have backups turned on.

When you removed the app from your phone, did you select offload or delete? If you chose delete, reboot your phone. It should clear that cache of data. If it remains, wait a bit then reboot again. Sometimes it takes a while to free up that space.

Also: disconnected icloud syncing, then re-installed the app - it came BLANK with no lists, no reminders, even though it takes 1,03 Gigs for data in ‘settings/general/storage’. Created some new lists, reminders, etc. Nothing changes. Reminders blocks 1 out of my 64 gigs of storage, with no use whatsoever.
