Hello Quellen,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

If you're wanting to delete things in your iCloud, the steps in the "Make more space available in iCloud" section of this article can walk you through deleting the various data in your iCloud: Manage your iCloud storage

Hope this helps!

Hello Quellen,

Thanks for those details.

If those photos are in iCloud, you can use the steps here to delete them from the iCloud website:

  1. "In Photos on iCloud.com, select the photos or videos you want to delete, or double-click a single photo or video.
  2. Click the Delete button, then click Delete.
  3. Deleted photos and videos are moved to the Recently Deleted album.
  4. To permanently delete photos or videos before they are automatically deleted, go to the Recently Deleted album, select the items you want to delete, then click Delete [number] Items.

See also Delete photos or videos from your Shared Library."

Hi Quellen,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you don't want your photos to sync to iCloud and you want to remove them. In order to stop photos and other content from syncing to the complimentary 5GB, you will need to turn off Photos in Settings > your name > iCloud.

You can turn off any other content you do not want to sync to iCloud and to any other devices signed in with your Apple ID. When you disable iCloud Photos, you will see a pop up to remove the photos from iPhone or to download them to your phone. Choose to download them if you want to keep the content on your device.

Regards.

Download All of iCloud First:

If you wanted to, you could download all of iCloud, and then trash what is in there. Perform my User Tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip. All would be saved, and would then be removed —photos and all. You would then use Finder to browse all of iCloud.

I don’t want to delete from my device...just delete everything in the iCloud. I have had everything off in iCloud settings and cancelled my iCloud subscription 3 months ago. iCloud contains 5 GB of my photos that I am supposed to delete from my device to delete from iCloud. I was advised by Apple support to sign into iCloud to delete my photos but as soon as I did it started uploading more if my photos. I don’t see anything that gives a solution for this ambiguity, opaqueness and intrusion of the iCloud holding my devices hostage. I signed out of iCloud and now I am blocked from updating my apps unless I sign in.

Thanks for your interest. As I said, I have had everything off in iCloud settings and cancelled my iCloud subscription 3 months ago. iCloud contains 5 GB of my photos that I am supposed to delete from my device to delete from iCloud. There was a very ambiguous popup, as usual. If it had given me the option to retain the photos on my device I would have selected it. However the wording was, as usual with Apple popups, unspecific, opaque and ambiguous. In addition, my recent Apple advisor stated that the only way to remove my photos from iCloud was to remove them from my device.
