iCloud says it’s full, but it’s not. Have followed various advice

I have followed numerous suggestions to stop getting the “iCloud is full” emails. My iCloud is less than half full - 2.1 GB used out of 5. Despite this, and after signing out and back in, reducing the amount of data being backed up, I am still getting this message. I’m getting pretty frustrated about it, and, of course, you can’t actually contact an actual support person. Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, I have already pared down the backup so it’s well within parameters - existing backups are at 1.48 GB, next backup size is pretty small:

I’ll continue to try to get a support person, but this seems like it shouldn’t be as hard as it apparently is.

Thanks for trying.

Hey there Kjewelll001,

It's possible the backup that's trying to be completed is too large for the storage amount available which is prompting the alert. Check to see if the next backup size is more than the current storage available. The steps below will help:

1. In iOS or iPadOS, go to Settings > [your name].
2. Tap iCloud. At the top, you can check how much iCloud storage you've used.
3. Tap Manage Account Storage or Manage Storage.
4. Tap Backups, then tap the device you're using. Under Last Backup and Backup Size, you can check Next Backup Size. It may take a few minutes for your device to calculate Next Backup Size.
5. If your backup needs more space than the amount you have available in iCloud, you can:
Delete information that you don't need to reduce the size of your backup
Upgrade your iCloud+ plan to get more space

If you can't back up to iCloud

If you need additional help or the alert still appears, Contact Apple Support next so they can take a closer look.

Take care!
