iPad log in

This was my grandfathers iPad that passed away 3 years ago. It’s mine now and I can’t get rid of his email. It keeps asking for the password- which I have. But then it asks for a verification code from his other iPad that won’t turn on or to send a text to his phone number which doesn’t exist anymore. What do I do to fix this?
