Cancelling payment for extra storage.

Hi! A few years ago I’ve purchased iCloud storage and I’ve been paying for it it ever since. I’ve now upgraded to a new iPhone with 512GB and I want to cancel my free storage subscription. My question is if I downgrade from storage plan of 200GB to 5GB is my data going to be safe considering that I currently have 512GB space on my iPhone?

Hey there eva-maria288,

Great question, and one we'd like to help answer as best we can.

If the current data in iCloud exceeds what you downgrade to(going from 200GB to the free 5GB storage), nothing would update/sync any longer with iCloud. More details can be found under the section 'What happens when you downgrade or cancel iCloud+' in this link: Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan

The link also points out near the top that it's strongly recommended to save any information from iCloud prior to downgrading the storage for it.

Cheers!
