I purchased an Asus pro art 27 inch external monitor and I can't make it work with my macbook pro (2020)

I purchased an Asus pro art 27 inch external monitor to work with my 2020 Mac Book Pro. The provided USB-C cable does nothing beyond making the monitor briefly flicker. There are 2 other cables provided by Asus but I don't know what to do with them - the printed diagrams aren't adequate for a non tech person such as myself. Do I need a hub of some sort ?

Since it is not an Apple product, we are not the experts with that monitor, but we found this on the Asus website: ProArt Display PA279CV｜Monitors｜ASUS Global

It looks like it is a required driver for Mac.
