Home App Invitation Not Received

I invite someone to the Home App.

They never receive the invitation.

We have HomePod minis and new phones. All updated.

This appears to be a problem for many users and it has gone on for years. Suggested solutions are inconsistent and unreliable.

Any suggestions other than randomly try all of the possible solutions?

Had similar issue. I ended up updating all my Apple TVs and HomePods. Restarting them as Apple recommends. I sent the invitation and still was not recieving it. I ended up deleting the app on her phone and reinstalled it. It finally worked. These steps worked for me, hopefully it’ll work for you.

Hi MikeOnHigh,

If you are having trouble with invitations on the Home app, see if the steps in If you can't access a home or accept an invitation in the Home app help:

  1. "On the invited user's iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS version 16.2, open the Home app and tap the More button  [icon with three dots] to see a list of homes.
  2. On the invited user's iPhone or iPad, remove homes that don't have accessories. Tap a home to select it, tap the More button , select Home Settings , scroll down, and tap Remove Home. If the invited user has a home with accessories, contact Apple Support.
  3. Restart the invited user's and home owner's iPhone or iPad, and restart all Apple TV and HomePoddevices in the home.
  4. On the home owner's iPhone or iPad, open the Home app and remove any pending invitations to the invited user. Tap the More button , select Home Settings , tap the guest's name, and tap Cancel Invitation.
  5. Resend the invitation to share control of the home to the invited user."

Take care.

I too have been dealing with a sent invite not being received by a family member. I tried everything listed in these forums. Resetting network settings, using the profile trick on both iPhones. Logging in and out of iCloud etc.

what finally worked for me was deleting the existing home, resetting the home hub (in my case an Apple TV) and when setting a home back up, using a different home name.

I suspect it was the resetting the Apple TV that did it for me.
