Replacement for what kind of tasks? QuickTime Player still exists, works fine, and has some odd tricks. But it has limited support for formats. VLC is a good player for various other formats.
Thanks for the reply...I'm just trying to listen to an audio file (local planning and zoning mtg I missed) with this designation: DEC RM.wma
I get an error msg instead saying its not compatible with QuickTime player.
so I googled a replacement software and saw VLC listed as a good choice but further googling of "is it safe" indicated suspected malware embedded? so that's when I posted here, its a bit confusing so I also put todays date bc I was hoping to get the best current choice.
