Siri not sending messages

Why does Siri not send text messages but does send calls in my Toyoto 2016. Toyoto says it’s a phone problem.

Greetings Bjcoody,

Since Siri is working as expected to make phone calls, have you tried restarting your iPhone? If not, restarting is a great step that can help resolve many issues. For reference, the steps for restarting are listed below. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

  1. "Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo."

Hello Bjcoody,

Thanks for trying the restart.

Looks like your model is not using CarPlay: CarPlay Available Models

1 . Please start by ensuring everything is set up properly as described this help article: Play music, podcasts, and audiobooks in your car - Apple Support

2 . If you still need help, please check this troubleshooting article: How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car - Apple Support

3 . Next, verify the system you are connecting to. From what we see, it looks like Toyota uses Entune, and makes no mention of sending messages with Siri: Toyota Entune

4 . While Toyota may blame Apple, we need to know the exact system, and all the features available. From what was found online, Entune makes no mention of Messages, but does mention Siri calls.

Might have to contact Toyota again, verify the features, or at the very least get the exact system and model, as the Toyota Entune 3.0 is what we shared above.

Thanks.
