Iphone 6 (plain)as media device (ipod)

Got a new 14. Iphone 6 still good, but obsolete. Sim deactivated and removed. I want to do a factory reset to wipe, and use like an ipad, and hopefully link to my series 1 (also obsolete) watch which does not pair with my new 14. If I do a factory reset without a sim, will I “brick” it ?

TIA.

Hey there Gotrox_proxy,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, we do want to let you know that while you can use your iPhone on Wi-Fi only and without a SIM card, when setting up the iPhone a SIM card may be required in order to activate the device.

This information can be found in the following resource under step 3: Set up your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

3. Activate your iPhone or iPad
You need to connect to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular network to activate and continue setting up your device.

Tap the Wi-Fi network that you want to use or, if available, tap Continue Without Wi-Fi to use your device's cellular network. If you're setting up an iPhone, you might need to insert your iPhone SIM card or iPad SIM card first. You might also be asked to activate your eSIM.

Get help if you can't connect to Wi-Fi or if you can't activate your iPhone.

We hope that's able to help.

Take care!
