New MacBook Air M2 - External Hard Drive Not Recognized on New Mac

I recently got a new MacBook Air M2. I have an external hard drive that the new Mac will not recognize. The external drive still works on my old Mac. It's not the drive, it's not the cable. I have connect other external drives and they work. The Finder 'External disks' option is selected. Suggestions?

Same thing here. Macbook Air M2. Samsung T5, Samsung T7, SanDisk Extreme - all of them are not even showing up in Disk Utility (normal, safe and recovery modes). While all of them work fine in my Macbook Pro 2020.

What is wrong with this Macbook Air M2? Can they fix it with an update?

I have a Macbook Air m2 and Ipad Air M1.

I have an HDD and SSD both formatted in exFAT. Neither of them is showing up in my Macbook air m2 on finder or Disk Utility.

But, Both of them are getting recognized on my IPAD Air M1. Read, and Writing all work well with my IPAD.

None is working on my MacBook though.

This Issue needs to be escalated. Hoping to get a solution soon.

Hi!

did you find any solution yet?

I have the same problem with the same MacBook Air M2 I bought 4 days ago.

I need the extern disk but even more my camera connected to the comp using Tethered tool cable. Doesn’t work. Tried several cables, connections, adapters. Nothing. When trying to return it, the apple seller said they wont take it back because when in servis they found one (and only one) small original apple usb3 to usb 3 port that worked and blamed my “not original” cables. While it worked on one computer in their showroom and not on another, their explanation was: it’s just a coincidence.

This is just bizarre. Please if someone found a solution let me know!!!!

I still have not resolved this issue (I spent a lot of time debugging it with the Apple Support staff).

Maybe we can try to investigate ourselves what's wrong and maybe we will find the root of the problem. I will start:

  • I moved to MacBook Air 2023 from MacBook Pro 2020 (Intel-based).
  • I used Migration Assistant.
  • On my MacBook Pro I had some software that could cause such behaviour: VMWare, VirtualBox and some NTFS for Mac extension.
