On your watch, go to Settings>Display & Brightness, then scroll down and tap "Always On."

Thanks for the advice. Truth be told, after I sent my message I accidentally opened the settings screen when I crossed my arms and noticed the “Theater “ mode was on. Not sure if it happened for the same reason or installing the latest iPhone update.
